I find it difficult to express myself these days...
I find it difficult to express myself these days without being pessimistic. I fear so deeply for this country and for the vanishing quality of life for the average American. I see American people growing more and more ignorant every day while becoming more susceptible to rhetoric. If America remains on its current course under a continued corrupt and ill-advised Republican led government, the resulting New Depression will not be like the one of days gone by. It will be magnitudes worse!!
Due to new technology / automation (less workers required), a population slated to double by 2050, illegal and legal immigration, collapsing education and healthcare, the increased greed of a powerful and uncaring few, failure of the judicial system to pursue and prosecute mega dollar white collar crime, controlled and biased media, a strong European Union (we can’t rely on them to fix us this time), low-tech jobs going to China and 3rd world countries… the America would be pressed to even regain its former way of life, let alone recover from a New Mega Depression!
Saddest of all, most Republicans don’t have a clue as to how the US got into this current mess… they refuse to remember that American life was way better under the previous Democratic administration… Amazingly, if pushed many Republicans will still tell you that their current hardships somehow relate back to the fact that former President Bill Clinton had extra marital sex – Sad but true!
Frustrating thoughts like these drove me to write the following:

I like you. You were not my first choice. I will vote for you. That said…
Why do you believe that you are you in the position that you are in?
Sorry, but the main reason you are the Democratic Presidential Candidate is that the Republicans wanted you to be! Did you really think that you made the cover of Newsweek and Time because they liked you and wanted you as the next President? When I saw Fox News (the worst conservative network) give you massive love I knew what was up. Why didn't you? The Republicans feared Hillary and knew that the only person that could defeat her was you! They also knew that they could deal with you later by simply pulling the plug on media coverage when you needed it most… And even if you did become President, they knew that you could ill afford to run the country and come back after them for their 8 year rape of the US’s economy and the theft of the US citizen’s rights to privacy… They knew Hillary and Bill could easily come after them and still effectively run the country at the same time! You are where you are today primarily because the Republicans (and their wholly owned media) helped you get there! Obviously, you can expect no more support from them.
How smart are you really? Well, I hope I'm wrong, but you've got me worried that "the light is not burning all that brightly!" Especially when it comes to playing the games that "they" play. You are playing checkers, they are playing chess. You further played into their hands when you blew your chance to partner with a great running mate that knows how to cut through the bull. While at the same time, you blew off the Democratic Convention's plea for a "Dream Team".
You have obviously not surrounded yourself with bright people OR you have chosen not to listen to them! The result is that you are allowing yourself to be “played”.
Where is Paul Begala when you need him! Bring him on board before it is too late. You are being out coached and out played! You can't win on defense alone! Wise up, time is running out for you and your campaign.
When the Republicans attack you on not preaching "Victory in Iraq"
The comeback should be: Republican President Bush already claimed victory… there is no more victory to be had! You simply can't win an occupation or a civil war! This victory they speak of is only a tactic to extend and complete the rape of American resources for the benefits of lining the pockets of their power friends in the War mfg., security (Black Water), oil, and other industries that are supposed to be helping rebuild Iraq. For specifics, just follow the daily trail of outgoing US dollars!!!
Seize every opportunity to attack your opponent's absurdities! You and your handlers are allowing the McCain party to put you into a compromised, reactionary position everyday and they will continue through November if you and your less than astute team allow them to do so. You must go on the Offense (and not be offensive). Every single time your opponent utters a word that has nothing to do with addressing the issues or the status of things in America, you must strike back swift and hard by showing the audacious absurdity of their statements as they do not relate to healing America.
Example: Biden missed a golden opportunity after the Republican caucus when reacting to
Sarah Palin's speech… On camera, Biden reacted by saying something to the effect of… "She’s good… she's good, wow (pause), she is really good. I don't know if I can compete with that… so I will address the issues". Come on people, THINK… don't give your opponent a boost! Sarah said nothing of substance and yet, I heard "she is great" three times out of Biden's mouth… The proper reaction must be… "Wow, (small Republican smirk) that was entertaining. But America doesn't need to be entertained by their candidates - a record number of Americans are feeling pain at this very moment - Americans are losing their homes at a record rate, they are losing their jobs and they are losing the lives of their sons, daughters, mothers and fathers in a country where victory has already been claimed!" The time for nonsense is over!" - Take off the gloves and fight.

Your defusing response to the outcry should have been… “I was raised to be, and I am a respectful gentleman. I would never stoop so low as to aim such a remark at any woman” I was simply borrowing from an age old political expression that McCain and Bush have recently used.” Period ...back to the real issues!
Obama you will be attacked from here on out… They will not focus on the issues… they don't have to. The majority of Americans don't understand what any of the issues truly are, they are an emotional, nearsighted, short memoried (not a word, but I like it), fad chasing, entertainment seeking, bunch that thinks they are well informed by the media… Republican owned media at that! … don’t fall for the tricks… Speak from the heart and not your head!

The economy that the last administration ruined.
To contrast: your opponents are now looking sharp as razors at every appearance with (yes) fresh lipstick! They will continue to "entertain" Americans with attacks on your campaign. I know you know this, but you must not allow yourself to remain on the defensive…
Instead, you must “Return America to Reality" with every absurd statement that your opponent makes!

Republicans are harvesters! They milk the economy, they cut obtainable education and healthcare, they create deficits. They withdraw the wealth of a nation and line the pockets of a very few! This is WHY the majority of Americans, Democrats and Republicans alike are hurting!
Democrats are planters! They seed, they grow the economy, they grow education and healthcare. They create reserves… It is time America, time to grow and to heal!
But remember you are talking to Americans… you must use examples and illustrations to drive your point home!!! The first Bush administration destroyed the economy, the Clintons (like them or not) replenished and gave us a surplus, the second Bush destroyed the economy by a factor greater than 10 and did it in record time! McCain admits that the Bush ran a failed administration and in the same breath agrees with his policies! Ram home the absurdity!!!
The “picture” of your message must be so clear that even an American can understand it!
Republicans understand media. Republicans understand the "simple" American mentality and exploit it every day with news, talk radio, news papers etc… Yes, "silly season", you betcha, flatter an ignorant population with juvenile media tactics, they are great at it… they don't need substance, issues, or platforms... just sarcastic quips, undocumented statistics, one-liners and "kill the microphone before someone intelligent can reply" tactics!
Democrats fail to use media properly. Sadly for Democrats, the most effective way Democratic American audiences are reached is through comedians! Sad but true. The things that Republicans do (get away with) are so absurd that it takes a comedian to point them out! The bad thing about this is that "we get it", we laugh at the absurd irony, we get angry at the repeated SNAFUs and tragedies, we laugh again and then we go home or turn off the tube. That's it, we go away and nothing is done! There have been so many screw up under the last administration that Americans have become desensitized and tolerant of them. Only one of these screw ups would have been enough to impeach a Democrat!
We need our Democratic elected officials and candidates to get tough. Stay on point and "pull the Republican's card" I.e. take away their free pass on the absurd, take away their "get out of jail free card"… If they are not pursued and prosecuted there will be no deterrence to dissuade them from plundering again in the future. America is tired; America is suffering… enough is enough!

They ignore the questions and state whatever off topic remarks they want. Right now, they are telling America with every breath that the "Economy is sound", that America is doing better than Europe and Japan! They are telling Americans that "they just FEEL as though things are bad"… “it is only your imagination that you just lost your house”! Then they follow this with a graphic of the "recent polls" showing (here we go again, an undocumented Statistic) that Obama is behind and America has changed its mind! Who decides who to poll? They own and control ALL popular media and who knows how many polling agencies. Anyone call you and ask you who you are voting for??? Americans don't seem to understand that all major networks whether they are dressed as conservative or liberal, are controlled by the same people… those that own and control them just dupe Americans into FEELING as though they have a choice. Way too many Americans, are politically under educated (i.e. scary-stupid) and are inclined to believe whatever their TV tells them to believe, especially when the face on the screen looks and sounds like theirs!
Obama, this is why you need (needed) to make the most of every single second of coverage that you get. At this point, one of your only remaining hopes is to drive home the Truth with your every breath.

Voter Registration YOU must do all you can to ensure that all your quasi supporters actually register, and then get out to vote! They all talk big but believe me, so many of them aren’t registered, have never registered and are afraid they will look foolish and / or un-cool if they ask for help on how to register! And because they remember that the “powers that be” stole the last two elections, they are apathetic. Combine this with their perceived understanding of the Electoral College vs. the Popular Vote; they don't believe that their single vote will make a difference!
YOU have got to address this with a uniquely crafted, late voter registration drive that is close in enough for the energy to carry into the election! You must build a last minute “fire” in the hearts of your supporters that burns so bright that the Republicans won’t have enough time to extinguish with their unscrupulous tactics. Creatively, let all voters know (especially the minorities) that the Republicans are counting on Obama supporters not to vote in order for them to win the election. Remind people that bad things can happen in close American elections! (Remember Florida) Your goal is a Victory so large that it can’t be denied!!!
Beyond a doubt, the American way of life will not survive 4 more years of Republican rip-offs!
